History of La Grotta restaurant in Radicofani

Radicofani (Si), is a small village nestled in the heart of the Val d’Orcia (Tuscany) on the summit of a high hill about 800 m above sea level. It is in a strategic position to reach San Casciano dei Bagni, Bagno Vignoni and Montepulciano. The typical regional restaurant La Grotta was established in the 1970s. After working there for a long time, in the 1990s the business was taken over by sisters Giusy and Natalina Rocchi. Both are dedicated to the preparation of dishes by taking turns in the kitchen. In the hall they help in the service some family members. It may then happen that between dishes the customer is pleasantly entertained with tales and anecdotes of local history. Friendliness, genuineness and tradition constitute their calling card.

Ambience and atmosphere of La Grotta restaurant

La Grotta restaurant is a real cave, as it is carved out of an old building in which volcanic stone (there was a volcano before Radicofani) shows off its beauty and elegance. At one time the building also housed a convent. Located in the center of the village, it has an outdoor terrace. The most striking and fascinating part remains undoubtedly the inner part.
